Groceries

Eating the right food is the key to maintain a healthy life. Eating right is not difficult to do. You just have to make sure that the food you ingest is rich in nutrients, like proteins, minerals, vitamins and fiber. It is essential for the human body to consume the amount of healthy food it needs in order to work properly and to avoid sickness.

However, healthy eating is becoming a day-to-day challenge for many people at present time. Blame it on the increasing prices of food and rising popularity of junk food. People rely on food that is cheaper and easier to prepare because of limited budget.

You might be wondering how you can eat healthy foods without spending too much money. One way is simply by preparing your own food. You can ensure that the ingredients of the food you eat is healthy if you are the one in control. You can also save money since it is less expensive than purchasing already prepared food.

Another big help is to make a list of the grocery items you need and stick with it. Having a list prepared will also save you time and money. If you are well prepared, your desire to buy other things will lessen, and you will find it easier to say no to items that are not on the list.

To help you live a healthy life, we have created the visual below to show you how you can eat healthy even on a tight budget.

More Grocery Tips:
–          Buy in bulk (as long as you will finish it before it goes bad),

–          Buy generic or store brand of products (10 – 30% savings)

–          Use the sales flyers to plan your shopping trip,

–          Stick to a budget,

–          Prepare your meals instead of buying ready-made, packaged or frozen meals. You end up reducing the cost of your meals by 30 % or more.

–          Use coupons if you have them. They add up to a sizable savings over time.

–           Keep in mind that most groceries stores have sales on regular items like meat and fish on a 2 – 5 week cycle. This means that as long as you have a deep freezer, you can buy enough on sale to last you for at least 3 weeks, and then buy again when the next sales cycle comes up. This way, you always end up paying less than regular price (savings of 20% to 50%)

Never shop when you are hungry 🙂

Every item has a price listed under it on the shelf – if you look at the small print under the bolded price, you will see the ‘unit price’ – this price will allow you to compare brands and sizes, as they are all priced against the same measurement ( for example, per 100ml) The cheapest unit price, the cheapest product!

  2. I have to state amazing just what a motivating article. This really is great. Keep doing what you are doing!!

Hey Emo…great blog buddy. On groceries we have
Found significant discounts by buying all our meat from a local meat market, and all produce from a local vegetable/fruit stand

Great ideas. Also see if you can shop at a grocery store that has coupons to get a percentage of your next gas purchase. With the price of gas every cent counts!
